A Beaver County school district warned parents of an attempted kidnapping that allegedly happened Tuesday afternoon.

Rochester School District said a man tried to grab an elementary school student who was on their way home on Heller Street, according to a letter sent to parents obtained by WPXI.

The man was reportedly in his late 40s or early 50s.

Rochester Borough Police are investigating the incident. Police and Rochester School officials plan to monitor local neighborhoods and school grounds.

In the letter, the district reminded children to be alert of their surroundings, walk with a friend and never approach strangers.

“As a school community, the safety of our children is of utmost importance,” the letter obtained by WPXI reads.
