An advisory for dense fog is in effect until 10 a.m. Tuesday.

The dense fog could result in visibility being reduced to a quarter-mile or less in many areas, according to the National Weather Service in Moon.

The fog is widespread across the entire region, including most of southwestern Pennsylvania and southeast Ohio, meteorologist Chris Leonardi said. It’s the result of the rain Monday, cooler air and still winds.

While the advisory ends at 10 a.m., the fog would persist until mid-day in some locations, Leonardi said.

The low visibility will make driving conditions hazardous. Drivers are urged to slow down, allow extra time and leave plenty of distance between vehicles.

After a cool and rainy day Monday, Tuesday is expected to be mostly sunny with highs in the 60s.
