A Duquesne and a Waynesburg resident were found guilty this week for sexual exploitation of minors, U.S. Attorney Eric Olshan said.

George Cobbs, 41, of Duquesne was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison for producing and attempting to produce material depicting a minor engaging in sexually explicit conduct.

U.S. District Judge W. Scott Hardy’s sentence also included lifetime supervision following Cobbs’ release from prison.

The case was investigated by the FBI’s Pittsburgh office, Allegheny County Police and Duquesne police, Olshan said in a statement.

James Jordan, 31, of Waynesburg was sentenced to a decade in federal prison for transporting a minor from Pennsylvania to West Virginia with the intent to engage in criminal sexual activity in January 2022.

The sentence imposed by U.S. District Judge William Stickman also includes 15 years of supervised release.

Jordan’s case was investigated by the Department of Homeland Security’s Pittsburgh office, the state Attorney General’s Office, Pennsylvania state police, Waynesburg police and Lewisburg, W. Va. police.

Both cases were handled by Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched in May 2006 by the U.S. Department of Justice. The initiative provides resources to locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who sexually exploit children.
