Officials have released the identity of a man whose body was pulled from the Monongahela River on Thursday in Fayette County.

Fayette County Coroner Dr. Bob Baker said Larry Greene, 50, of Bobtown was reported as a potential drowning victim when his office was called to the scene in Point Marion at about 7:30 p.m.

Greene was pronounced dead at the scene about an hour later.

An official ruling on the cause and manner of the death is pending the results of an autopsy, Baker said.

State police are investigating.
