One person died and two others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash in Fayette County on Monday night.

Pennsylvania State Police said a Chevy Cruze rolled past a stop sign at the intersection of Morgantown and Tent Church roads just after 9 p.m., when it collided with an oncoming Subaru Legacy.

The passenger in the Chevy, Tyler Keith Shaffer, 24, of Georges Township was ejected through the windshield upon impact.

He was declared dead at the scene by the coroner’s office.

Both the driver of the Chevy and the passenger in the Subaru sustained serious injuries and were taken to J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown.

Altogether, three people required hospital transports, according to Fayette County 911 dispatch.

The Subaru caught fire by the time authorities arrived. Multiple fire departments were on the scene.
