Firefighters responded around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2024, to a house fire on the 100 block of Maple Street in Everson. There were no injuries reported.

A fire Tuesday afternoon caused extensive damage to a house in Everson, where a firefighter was injured, an Everson fire official said.

No one was home when the fire damaged the house in the 100 block of Maple Street, said Everson Assistant Fire Chief Dale Grubbs.

The firefighter was from one of the fire departments that assisted Everson in fighting the blaze, which was reported at about 3:30 p.m. Grubbs declined to identify the firefighter or the fire department where the individual belonged.

Firefighters were able to knock down the fire within about 75 minutes and remained on the scene for about three hours, Grubbs said.

The cause and the origin of the fire are under investigation by a state police fire marshal, Grubbs said.

Everson firefighters were assisted by units from Scottdale, Mt. Pleasant and Bullskin.
