New Castle man accused of selling crack cocaine in Butler faces new charges
A New Castle man has been accused of scheming to sell large amounts crack cocaine to addicts in Western Pennsylvania, federal prosecutors said Thursday.
Zaamar Stevenson, 43, who goes by the nickname “Scrap,” faces new charges from a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh related to possessing and selling more than 28 grams or an ounce of crack cocaine, U.S. Attorney Scott W. Brady said.
Stevenson also is accused of firearms violations, conspiracy and money laundering.
The accusations of drug-dealing date to fall 2015.
Stevenson was arrested during a controlled drug buy on Nov. 9, 2015, following a month-long investigation by the FBI and Butler County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force, the Butler Eagle reported. Detectives told the Butler Eagle at the time that Stevenson was known to use rental cars to make roving and door-to-door drug deals.
The charges filed this week supersede the prior indictment against Stevenson.
If convicted of all charges, Stevenson faces a possible sentence of five to 40 years in prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Shanicka L. Kennedy is prosecuting the case.
