Police are investigating the death of an inmate at the state prison in Fayette County.

James Jarzenski Jr., 43, was found unresponsive in his cell Saturday and later pronounced dead by paramedics, according to state prison officials.

Jarzenski, who had been in the prison since January 2021, was serving 13- to 30-year sentence for causing serious bodily injury during a robbery in Venango County, authorities said.

The Fayette County coroner will determine the cause of and manner of his death.

Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the incident.
