1 injured in crash in Baldwin Borough

Several live power lines and at least five telephone poles were broken or knocked down Thursday night after a vehicle hit one of the poles in Baldwin Borough.

Two fire companies — Baldwin Independent Fire Co. #1, Station 105, and Option Independent Fire Co. — were dispatched at about 8 p.m. to the single-vehicle accident, officials said Friday in a Facebook post.

EMS evaluated the unnamed vehicle’s driver and transported them to an area hospital, officials said.

Crews remained on the scene for several hours until Duquesne Light arrived and secured the power to the area, officials said.

A spokesperson for Duquesne Light said the crash brought down one DLC pole and four Verizon poles, as well as various wires.

About 35 customers lost power initially, and 17 remain out as of 10:30 a.m. Duquesne Light crews have since replaced its pole and will reinstall wires once Verizon completes its repairs.

All customers are expected to be restored by 2 p.m. Friday.

Beaver County man takes plea deal for abuse of corpse in New Brighton

A Beaver County man has accepted a plea deal on a charge that, police said, he helped to move a woman’s body to a basement storage room after she died from a suspected drug overdose, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

On April 12, Pennsylvania State Police charged James Livingston III, 54, of Darlington with one count of abuse of a corpse, a misdemeanor, court records show.

Victim Annelizabeth Repic was found last month inside the storage room of a New Brighton apartment building, WTAE reported. Police believe died from a suspected drug overdose while with Livingston inside an apartment belonging to Livingston’s girlfriend.

Police said Livingston admitted that he “participated” in moving Repic’s body to the storage room. The alleged plea deal included.

Livingston has a plea court hearing scheduled for May 29, court records show.

If it was up to Livingston, Repic “wouldn’t have ever been found,” Jonie Potts, a friend of Repic’s, told WTAE.

“I want to see justice done for Liz because she didn’t deserve this,” Potts said. “No human being deserves this.”
