Bicyclist critically injured in Homewood vehicle collision
An adult male bicyclist is in critical condition after he was struck Sunday night by two vehicles driving side by side on the roadway, Pittsburgh police said.
Officers responded to the collision at approximately 10:30 p.m. at the intersection of Frankstown and North Lang avenues in Homewood.
The two vehicles were traveling “at a high rate of speed” as seen on CCTV footage reviewed by officers, Pittsburgh Public Safety said in a Facebook post.
Both vehicles fled the scene without stopping.
The bicyclist received CPR before he was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
Large fight breaks out on South Side
Early Sunday morning, a large fight broke out on the South Side — resulting in multiple arrests, a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson told TribLive news partner WTAE.
Police were dispatched around 2:30 a.m. to the 1600 block of East Carson Street, near Mario’s South Side Saloon, Pitch, Avalon Social and Enclave. Multiple arrests were made.
No injuries were reported, and mutual aid was requested to help disperse crowds.
Also on the scene, a police vehicle that was unoccupied was hit by another vehicle, WTAE said.
Wendy’s manager charged for explicit content
A manager of a Wendy’s in Bethel Park is facing charges after admitting to soliciting and distributing explicit photos and videos to an underage employee. TribLive news partner WTAE reports.
Stephen Katz, manager at the Library Road restaurant, is being charged with sexual abuse of children and unlawful contact with a minor.
Police received a ChildLine referral near the end of May alleging that a manager contacted a teenage employee over text message and Snapchat — with the intention of soliciting, sending and receiving inappropriate content.
The teen employee said that on May 15, she began exchanging text messages with an unknown person who had contacted her, according to the criminal complaint.
She initially assumed it was a male classmate she attended school with, the report said, and began to share photos with him.
However, Katz identified himself after three days of conversation, and the teenager continued sending photos in fear of losing her position, WTAE reports.
Officials told WTAE they believe Katz had obtained her phone number through employee records.
