Delta flight with mechanical issues diverted to Pittsburgh airport

A Delta flight headed from Montreal to Atlanta was diverted to Pittsburgh International Airport on Wednesday night because of unspecified mechanical issues.

Allegheny County Airport Authority spokesperson Bob Kerlik said the plane landed safely shortly after 10 p.m. There were no injuries.

A Delta spokesperson reported 40 passengers, three flight attendants and two pilots were on board the plane.

Maintenance crews worked to repair the plane. The passengers were scheduled to resume their journey to Atlanta on Thursday, departing at 11 a.m.

Armstrong County man charged with sex assault on child

An Armstrong County man has been charged with multiple counts of indecent assault after state police said he sexually assaulted a child over several years in East Franklin Township.

Police said they arrested John Toy, 64, of Kittanning on Oct. 14, after receiving a ChildLine report about the alleged assaults on a 9-year-old girl.

He also is charged with corruption of minors and endangering the welfare of children.

Police said the incidents happened between Jan. 1, 2022, and Aug. 1, 2025.

According to court documents, Manor Township police subsequently filed additional charges against Toy, including indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and corruption of minors, stemming from an alleged incident on Nov. 1, 2020.

Toy was arraigned on the latest charges Monday and was placed in the Armstrong County Jail after failing to post $250,000 bail.

He faces a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

Toy’s attorney, Matthew Ness, couldn’t immediately be reached Thursday morning.
