Penn Hills police seek 2 suspects who shot at Amazon driver

Penn Hills police are searching for two men who they say attacked an Amazon driver and fired a shot at him while the driver was making deliveries.

Police said the driver was on Newfield Drive around 3 p.m. Sunday when he was assaulted by two men, authorities told Tribune-Review news partner WPXI-TV.

Investigators said one of the men fired a gun at the Amazon driver when he got back into the vehicle to escape. A bullet struck the truck’s window, but the driver was not injured, police told the TV station.

Police said they are working to identify the suspects.


Officer hurt while chasing suspect in Downtown Pittsburgh

A Pittsburgh police officer was injured Sunday while pursuing a suspect Downtown.

Officers from the city’s Zone 2 station in the Hill District responded to Stanwix Street and Liberty Avenue around 5:30 p.m. after receiving a 911 call from a man who said he was threatened by a man with a gun, according to a Pittsburgh Public Safety spokeswoman. Police said the caller provided a description of the attacker, and officers spotted someone fitting that description. That person fled when officers approached.

One of the responding officers suffered leg and facial injuries after falling on a staircase while chasing the suspect, police said.

Police said they lost sight of the suspect at Stanwix Street and the Boulevard of the Allies.


Box truck crashes into Butler County tavern, driver hurt

The driver of a box truck was injured after crashing into a tavern in Penn Township on Monday night.

The crash happened at the McBride Station tavern in the 300 block of Pittsburgh Road around 9:45 p.m., according to Trib news partner WPXI.

The station reported that the driver was flown by helicopter to a hospital for treatment.

The crash left a large hole in a front corner of the building.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
