Man’s body found after North Braddock fire
A man’s body was found after a Tuesday night fire in a North Braddock home, according to Allegheny County police.
A duplex in the 1000 block of North Avenue was destroyed by a fire reported shortly before 11:30 p.m., WTAE reported. Officials said the fire appeared to be accidental.
The identity of the man has not been released yet.
Police vehicles burned in McKeesport
Police are investigating after multiple vehicles were burned in a parking lot near the McKeesport police station Wednesday morning.
At least four vehicles, including one marked city police SUV, caught fire in a parking lot reserved for police vehicles, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
The fire was reported shortly after 3 a.m. No injuries were reported.
The Allegheny County Fire Marshal was investigating.
Woodland Hills coach resigns
The girls volleyball coach at Woodland Hills High School has resigned after parents said their children were abused during a workout that the coach called a punishment, TribLive news partner WTAE reported.
Parents said girls suffered bruises, cuts and blisters to their hands after being forced to do a bear crawl around a track with temperatures in the 90s.
Parents were told during a meeting with district officials Tuesday night that the coach had resigned. The coach’s name was not released.
Fire damages home in Pine
A Tuesday night fire that damaged a home on Heights Drive in Pine Township near North Park was focused in the garage.
No injuries were reported, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.
Pursuit of stolen Jeep ends in crash Downtown
A pursuit of a stolen vehicle ended in a crash Tuesday in Downtown Pittsburgh, according to state police
According to state police, troopers saw a Jeep Cherokee on Interstate 376 that had been reported stolen out of Wilkinsburg. Troopers pursued the vehicle toward Downtown near Second Avenue. The Jeep hit multiple vehicles, coming to a stop after crashing into another vehicle with people inside.
Three males fled on foot, state police said. During the pursuit, one discarded a firearm, which was found and later confirmed to be stolen. Two of the three were caught.
State police said Jahil Parker, no age given, and an unnamed boy are charged with fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and multiple other charges.
Police were searching for the third person.
