Nov. 13: Here is covid-19 data from selected Western Pa. colleges

Western Pennsylvania is home community to several colleges and universities, attracting students from around the state and country. During the coronavirus pandemic, many are tracking the number of positive covid-19 cases as they emerge on campus.

University of Pittsburgh

Enrollment: About 30,000 students

New cases: There were 118 student cases and three employee cases added this week.

Isolation bed capacity: 179 beds. There are 138 students in isolation, eight more than last week.

Total confirmed cases: There have been 487 students and 30 faculty and staff infected since Aug. 1

University of Pittsburgh – Greensburg Campus

Enrollment: About 1,500

Active cases: There were no student cases this week, and no new employee cases.

Total confirmed cases: Six students and four employees since Aug. 1.

Carnegie Mellon University

Enrollment: About 14,000 students

New cases: There were 10 new student case reported since Monday.

Isolation bed capacity: According to a university spokesman, the exact number of beds available depends upon the timing and circumstances of the need, as many students are already in private rooms.

Total confirmed cases: There have been 101 student cases so far this semester, and 105 student cases since March (on- and off-campus).

Chatham University

Enrollment: About 2,300

New cases: There were two new student cases this week (as of Wednesday).

Isolation bed capacity: 40 rooms. One is in use.

Total confirmed cases: Fifty-seven students since Aug. 17. Twenty-seven are residents, and 30 are commuter students.

Point Park University

Enrollment: About 4,100

New cases: There were no new student cases reported since Nov. 9.

Isolation bed capacity: 32 beds. There are 11 students in isolation/quarantine. Five are active cases.

Total confirmed cases: 34 students and two employees since Aug. 30. Twenty-five are commuter students.

Duquesne University

Enrollment: About 9,500 students

New cases: There were 30 new student cases since Sunday, Nov. 8 (dashboard last updated Thursday).

Isolation bed capacity: There are 35 students in isolation on campus, and 61 students in quarantine at a hotel.

Total confirmed cases: There’s been a cumulative total of 257 student cases this semester.

Robert Morris University

Enrollment: About 5,300

New cases: There were 13 new cases reported since , Nov. 9.

Isolation bed capacity: Fifty-seven students are in isolation; 210 are in quarantine.

Total confirmed cases: 97 cases since Aug. 21

Indiana University of Pennsylvania

Enrollment: About 12,000 students

New cases: There were 53 new cases since Nov. 6.

Isolation bed capacity: 170 beds. There are 15 students in isolation — 13 are confirmed positive.

Total confirmed cases: There have been 391 cases since the fall semester began. There have been 328 recoveries.

Seton Hill University

Enrollment: About 1,700

New cases: There were three new student cases since Monday.

Isolation bed capacity: 21 beds

Total confirmed cases: Seventy-two students since Aug. 17, including 20 commuters and 52 residents.

Slippery Rock University

Enrollment: About 9,000 students

New cases: There were 18 new student case added since Friday (Nov. 6-12).

Isolation bed capacity: There are 23 students in isolation, and 27 in quarantine.
