A woman found dead Tuesday morning inside a portable toilet at a construction site on the Washington & Jefferson College campus likely died of a drug overdose, the Washington County Coroner’s Office said in a release.
The coroner’s office identified the woman as Margaret Esther Tinglum, 30, of Hermitage.
The body was found at 6:56 a.m.
Washington city police are investigating.
Tinglum was not a student at the college and it does not appear that she was affiliated in any way with Washington & Jefferson College, wrote Eva Chatterjee-Sutton, vice president for student life and dean of students, in an email sent to the Washington & Jefferson College community.
W&J public safety officials found the door to the portable toilet locked from the inside and they forced the door open and found Tinglum, Chatterjee-Sutton wrote.
Contractors at the site didn’t know the woman, Chatterjee-Sutton wrote.
“This appears to be an isolated incident and there is no reason to be concerned about campus safety,” she wrote. “Our thoughts are with the family of the deceased in this tragic situation.”
