A state lawmaker and a Highmark Health executive are the newest members of the Point Park University Board of Trustees.

University officials said Point Park appointed Saurabh Tripathi, executive vice president and chief financial officer at Highmark Health, and state Rep. Austin Davis to three-year terms on the private university’s board.

Davis became the first African American to represent the Mon Valley-based 35th District when he was elected to the state House in 2018 with more than 73% of the vote.

After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh in 2012, he served as executive assistant in the office of Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald and spearheaded Fitzgerald’s vision and transition teams in the early days of the administration.

In the House, Davis serves as a deputy Democratic whip. He is a member of the House Appropriations Committee, as well as the House Insurance Committee and the House Consumer Affairs Committee.

Tripathi joined Highmark in 2019. He has more than 23 years of experience managing global teams and multibillion-dollar profit and loss accounts. Prior to joining Highmark Health, he served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Fresenius Medical Care in Boston.
