Police: 4-year-old swept under by current in Butler creek

A 4-year-old boy was flown to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh after a “serious incident” in Connoquenessing Creek in Butler Monday evening, according to police.

Police, medics and firefighters responded to a swimming hole near Kauffman Drive around 7:20 p.m. Monday.

According to police, the boy was playing in the water with siblings when he got swept under by the current. He was unresponsive when emergency personnel arrived.

The boy was first taken to Butler Memorial Hospital, and was flown to Children’s from there, police said.

No updates on the boy’s condition were available.

Police were continuing to investigate.
