A Pittsburgh man accused fleeing a traffic stop in a stolen car Saturday afternoon on Route 22 in Indiana County was found two hours later hiding in a hollow log in the woods, state police said.

Andrew Lamont McCrommon, 28, was driving the 2016 Audi A4 on Route 22 in West Wheatfield Township, Indiana County, according to police. The car had been reported stolen in the Pittsburgh.

At 12:34 p.m., police tried to stop the car for speeding. McCrommon fled, and police chased, according to police. The chase ended when the car hit a curb and became disabled at a gas station along Route 22 in Burrell Township, Indiana County, police said.

McCrommon and a passenger, Darrell Dontay Eley, 31, of Braddock ran from the car, police said. Police used a Taser to subdue Eley, and McCrommon eluded police until about 2:30 p.m., when a passerby called police and reported a man asked him for a ride. The passerby refused, and the man ran into the woods. He was later identified as McCrommon and was found hiding in a hollow log in a wooded area near Cornell Road in Burrell Township, police said.

McCrommon is facing felony charges of receiving stolen property and fleeing police, plus several traffic violations. Eley is facing two felony weapons charges because a .40-caliber pistol found in the car was his, along with charges of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct, according to court records.

Court records did not list attorneys for either man. Bail was set at $50,000 for each.
