A police cruiser was involved in an accident in Aliquippa on March 14, 2019.

An Aliquippa police officer suffered minor injuries when his vehicle was struck early Thursday morning during an attempted traffic stop.

Sgt. Steven Roberts said the officer was treated and released after another car crashed into the police cruiser.

The incident happened at about 5 a.m. at the intersection of Grand Avenue and Kennedy Boulevard.

Roberts said a second police officer in the car was not injured, nor was the driver of the other vehicle.

“The officers saw a person go through a traffic light at Kennedy and Grand. They activated their lights and sirens and followed,” Roberts said.

As police passed through the intersection, a car traveling from Grand Avenue struck the driver’s side of the police car.

Further details were not released. The incident is being investigated by state police from the Beaver barracks.
