The National Weather Service warned of potentially severe storms throughout the Western Pennsylvania region Tuesday, with a threat of large hail, damaging winds and isolated tornadoes.

Pittsburgh’s National Weather Service office predicted the greatest threat for severe storms would be across eastern Ohio and northwestern Pennsylvania, with the worst hazards peaking between 2 and 9 p.m.

Storms will be scattered and will largely clear out by midnight, TribLive news partner WTAE reported. Any lingering showers should wrap up Wednesday morning.

Damaging wind will be the primary threat, the National Weather Service said, though storms could also bring 2-inch hail. There’s a lower probability of a tornado.

The enhanced risk warning means there’s a high probability that several severe storms will occur.

Duquesne Light said it is staffing additional crews to respond to potential power outages.

Temperatures on Tuesday should reach the low- to mid-80s, according to WTAE.

WTAE’s forecast anticipates showers returning Thursday and Friday ahead of a cooler weekend, with high temperatures Saturday and Sunday reaching the 60s and lows in the 40s.
