State police release IUPatty's weekend arrest, investigation activity
State police conducted 77 investigations and arrests over the three-day IUPatty’s weekend centered around the Indiana University of Pennsylvania campus.
The three-day annual celebration is popular with university students.
Spanning from March 21 to 23, the event drew the following activity from state police:
- 187 traffic stops
- 50 traffic citations issued
- 47 written warnings issued
- 13 DUI arrests
- 4 crash investigations
Criminal investigations and arrests included:
- 6 carrying a false identification card arrests
- 2 drug possession/paraphernalia arrests
- 3 disorderly conduct arrests
- 7 DUI (alcohol) arrests
- 3 DUI (drug) arrests
- 3 DUI (alcohol & drug) arrests
- 2 furnishing alcohol to minors arrests
- 6 misrepresentation of age arrests
- 39 possession of alcohol by a minor arrests
- 6 public drunkenness arrests
Before the weekend, state police announced an increased presence of troopers and liquor control officers would be present in Indiana, as well as increased traffic and DUI enforcement patrols.
IUPatty’s is not sanctioned by the university and has been a source of concern in the surrounding community.
