Two teenagers killed in Mercer County crash

Two teenage girls were killed Sunday night in a crash on I-80 eastbound in Mercer County, according to Youngstown news station WKBN.

Alexis Myers, 16, and Danielle Nelson, 15, were passengers in an SUV that crashed into a tractor-trailer around 6:40 p.m. The 17-year-old girl who was driving the SUV was taken to a Pittsburgh hospital with serious injuries, according to WKBN. Another passenger was also injured.

Two tractor-trailers were involved in the crash.

The 37-year-old driver of one truck was taken to a hospital with unknown injuries, the other driver was uninjured.

The cause of the crash is unknown.

The girls were headed to a religious event at Grove City College, followed by a group of parents in another vehicle.
