The Supreme Court of Pennsylvania Disciplinary Board will temporarily suspend Uniontown attorney Tancredi Williams Calabrese, who was arrested last month on charges of money laundering.

“It has been found that his continued practice of law is causing immediate and substantial public or private harm because of his misappropriation of entrusted client funds,” the disciplinary board said in a statement.

The suspension takes effect April 25.

The FBI began investigating Calabrese last year after a caller to the bureau’s hotline said the attorney had made an unsolicited offer to launder money for him.

An undercover informant asked Calabrese for help hiding drug money, and Calabrese allegedly spent months helping the informant set up a phony corporation.

The case against him is pending.

Calls to Calabrese’s office and his attorney, Thomas Shaffer, were not returned Thursday.
