Weather service issues wind advisory for Sunday; rain in forecast

The National Weather Service in Pittsburgh has issued a wind advisory for Sunday.
The advisory will run from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sustained winds of 25 mph, with gusts up to 50 mph, are expected.
The advisory covers Allegheny County and all surrounding counties in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Strong winds may below down limbs, trees and power lines. Scattered power outages are possible.

The weather service advises residents to secure loose items and travel carefully with high-profile vehicles.
“Be prepared for the wind,” meteorologist Jason Frazier said. “It will really ramp up in the late morning and early afternoon hours. Now is the time to get things tied down and bring in any loose objects outside to avoid any potential damages.”
Rain showers are expected to begin in the Pittsburgh area between 10 a.m. and noon and end between 2 and 4 p.m. Isolated showers will remain possible outside those hours, the weather service said.
About a quarter-inch of rain is expected with the fast-moving system, with possibly up to a half-inch around Interstate 80, Frazier said.
