Richland celebrated its 31st annual Community Day on Aug. 9.
The Pine-Richland Marching Band kicked off the event at 4 p.m., providing the accompaniment for the national anthem sung by Claire and Raegan Dosch. Capping the affair was Zambelli fireworks at 10 p.m.
The day was packed with food, games, rides and entertainment for all ages. There was face painting, hay rides, train rides and inflatables for children to enjoy.
For those who came hungry for a win, the event featured a Buffalo Wild Wings wing-eating contest as well as an ice cream-eating contest.
Various community organizations sponsored booths during the event — from the Richland Volunteer Fire Department to Boy Scout Troop 150 and the Pine Richland dance team.
BB Steal 80’s Live served as the headliners for the evening’s entertainment.
“It’s always a special day when our community comes together, and this year was no exception,” township Manager Brian O’Malley said. “Everyone involved in Richland Township Community Day — guests, local performers, community groups, vendors and our exceptional township staff — plays a special role in celebrating why this is such a vibrant place to live and work.”
A Zambelli fireworks display served as the perfect conclusion to a summer day full of fun and community.
“Township staff worked hard and with heart to put this event together to celebrate and give back to this special community,” said Natalie Thiess, assistant township manager.
