1 killed in crash along Route 51 in Jefferson Hills

A person was killed in a multiple vehicle crash along Route 51 Friday morning in Jefferson Hills, police said.

Allegheny County Police received the call about the crash a few minutes before 6:30 a.m.

So far, medical examiners had confirmed one fatality, a couny police spokeswoman said.

The identity of the victim was unclear Friday afternoon.

PennDOT was alerted of the crash, which involving a tractor trailer, between Wray Large Road and Practice T Drive, a little before 7 a.m., said spokesman Steve Cowan.

Two people were taken to the hospital, according to TribLive news partner WTAE.

The fire was cleared, but Route 51 remained closed and police were still at the scene Friday afternoon, said the Allegheny County police spokeswomen.
