A school bus driver was trapped and later extricated after crashing into a pole Wednesday morning along Ardmore Boulevard in Forest Hills.

First responders were called to the 2300 block of Ardmore at 9:35 a.m., according to Allegheny County Police. The driver struck a steel sign pole, police said.

No children were on board the bus at the time of the crash. The driver was taken to an area hospital, police said.

Images from the scene show the impact of the crash dislodged the front axle and engine block from the bus.
