A look at uncontested Primary races in the Quaker Valley area

A number of municipal and school board races in the Quaker Valley are uncontested for the May 20 Primary Election, according to the Allegheny County Office of Elections’ unofficial candidate list.

Aleppo

A township commissioners’ race has only two Republican candidates seeking party nods for three seats. The term is four years.

Candidates are commissioners’ President George Jones and incumbent Daniel Darragh.

There are no Democratic candidates.

Bell Acres

Democrat Mayor Kenneth Alvania seeks his party’s nomination for another four-year term.

There are no Republican candidates.

Bell Acres Council has four Republicans running for four, four-year seats and one Republican running for nomination for a two-year seat.

Candidates are council President David Renfrew, Vice President Brock Meanor, incumbents Matthew Horton, Michelle Veeck and Charles Kulbacki.

There are no Democratic candidates.

Edgeworth

Republican Mayor Gary Smith seeks his party’s nomination for another four-year term.

No one is on the Democratic ticket.

Four Republican candidates seek party nods for four four-year council seats.

Candidates are President Joseph Hoepp, Vice President Ivan Hofmann and incumbents Katherine Larsen and Daniel Wilson.

No one is on the Democratic ticket.

Glen Osborne

Two Democrat incumbents are running for four council ballot spots in the November election: Council President John Orndorff and Greg Curran.

The term is four years. No one is on the Republican ticket.

Leetsdale

Democratic Mayor Sandra Ford seeks her party’s nomination for another four-year term.

Three Democrats are running for four council ballot spots in the November election: Vice President Osman Awad, James DeGori and Robert Benedict.

Council President Maria Napolitano is the lone Republican seeking one of four ballot spots in the November election.

Council terms are for four years.

Paul Magee is the lone Republican candidate seeking a party nod for one of two four-year commissioner seats.

Jessica Cindrich is the lone Democratic candidate seeking a party nod for one of two four-year commissioner seats.

Sewickley

Two Democrats are running for party nods for two council 1st Ward ballot spots in the November election: incumbents Todd Hamer and Linda Solecki.

No one is on the Republican ticket in the 1st Ward.

Two Democrats are running for party nods for two 3rd Ward council ballot spots in the November election: incumbents Donna Korczyk and Anne Willoughby.

No one is on the Republican ticket in the 3rd Ward.

Council terms are for four years.

Democrat Mayor George Shannon is seeking his party’s nomination for another four-year term.

No one is on the Republican ticket.

Sewickley Heights

Republican Mayor George Magovern Jr. is seeking his party’s nomination for another four-year term.

No one is on the Democratic ticket.

Four Republicans are running for party nods for four council ballot spots in the November election: Vice President Craig Kinney and incumbents Mary Barbour, Tom Pangburn and Carey Sirianni.

No one is on the Republican ticket. The term is for four years.

Sewickley Hills

Republican Cynthia Phillips is the lone candidate seeking party nods for three, four-year council seats.

No one is on the Democratic ticket.

Quaker Valley School District

Board Vice President Daniela Sauro Helkowski and Ellen Stevenson have both cross-filed seeking Democrat and Republican nods for two Region 1 school board ballot spots.

School board member Stratton Nash has cross-filed for a Region 2 ballot spot.

School board member Katheryn Doebler has cross-filed for a Region 3 ballot spot.

The terms are for four years.
