Bridge Educational Foundation scholarships

Bridge Educational Foundation and its donor, Waste Management, are donating $26,500 in scholarships to Allegheny County families as students start the new school year. Students attending Blessed Francis Seelos Academy, Eden Christian Academy, Holy Cross Academy and St. Joseph High School will benefit from the scholarships.

School officials, Waste Management representatives and state lawmakers recently gathered for an outdoor meet-and-greet at Eden Christian Academy in Ohio Township to celebrate the scholarship announcement.

Pennsylvania’s innovative Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program marks two decades of success this year, providing thousands of children each year with scholarship aid. EITC tuition scholarships can help to keep students in the schools that best fit their educational needs and allow new families the financial help to choose the best schools to fit their family’s changing needs.

The Bridge Educational Foundation has provided scholarships to more than 32,0000 students in 61 of Pennsylvania’s 67 counties.

“The EITC is providing families throughout the state with a choice by pairing the financial support of community-minded businesses with families since 2001. The covid-19 pandemic, and the resulting educational changes and closures, prompted many families to consider their educational options,” said Natalie Nitt, Bridge Educational Foundation executive director in a news release. “EITC scholarships are an important financial tool for families seeking an alternative to their local public school.”
