Four candidates seek three four-year seats on Edgeworth council, according to the Allegheny County Office of Elections unofficial candidate list.
Republican incumbent and current council Vice President David Aloe and fellow Republican incumbents Elizabeth Genter and Gregory Marlovits hope to keep their positions as Democratic challenger Rebecca Mahr Cartus seeks a seat at the table.
Here are the candidates and their responses to the election questions posed by the Sewickley Herald.

What is the most pressing issue in Edgeworth and how would you handle it on council?
Maintaining the high level of service for our residents. This has been accomplished in my time on council by the thorough discussion of an issue and where needed the utilization of experts. The performance of our professional staff has been and is exceptional.
Rebecca Mahr Cartus
Age: 68
Political party: Democrat
Education: B.S. in communication arts, Geneva College 1977; M.A. in rhetoric and communication, University of Pittsburgh 1982; master’s of Divinity, Pittsburgh Theological Seminary 2006.

What is the most pressing issue in Edgeworth and how would you handle it on council?
Edgeworth stands blessed with residents and with real estate. Sometimes, though, citizens have concerns — pets and properties, street fireworks, spotty alerts — and feel shuffled to the bottom of the administration’s deck.
Taxpayers deserve a process that guarantees council’s respectful ear and necessary action, and a council member dedicated to the task.
I bring a renewed effort to present such issues and work toward resolutions that fit all Edgeworth neighbors alike.
