Fellowship: Beth Samuel readies for High Holy Days, Pet Blessing at Grace Anglican and more

Antioch Baptist Church

Beth Samuel Jewish Center

Beth Samuel Jewish Center meets every Saturday at 10 a.m. in person and on Zoom for Morning Shabbat services. First Friday Family Services take place at 5:45 p.m. on the first Friday of the month during the school year, accompanied by a congregational potluck. Kabbalat Shabbat services are held the third Friday of every month during the school year on Zoom.

The congregation will welcome members back to the Sanctuary for High Holy Days this month. RSVPs for all services and meals are required. Services and honors are in person.

HDD attendance is included with membership. Guests of members are $50 each. HHD attendance only is $250. HHD plus first year membership is $360.

Grace Anglican Church

Sunday Worship is at 10:15 a.m. each week. A traditional service of Holy Communion followed by a time of food and fellowship in the Parish Hall.

A pet blessing will take place from noon-2 p.m. Sept. 30.

Morning prayer is 7 a.m. Tuesday through Thursday.

North Way Sewickley Valley

North Way Sewickley Valley is a family-friendly Christian community offering services at 9:15 and 11 a.m. each Sunday. Kids Church is available at both services for children from birth to fifth grade. Autism Ministry support is also available for children from preschool to eighth grade with pre-­registration.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

The Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services. The church is a reconciling congregation and openly welcomes all people.

The new Sunday School year will kick off on Sept. 10 with a special morning of games, crafts and Bible-based activities from 9:30 a.m. to noon. All children from kindergarten through grade 5 are invited to join.

The Book Club will resume its monthly meetings on Sept. 11 at 3 p.m. and discuss “An Immense World” by Pulitzer Prize-winning science journalist Ed Yong.

Conversation classes for English as a Second Language adults have resumed for a new year. Two levels are being offered via Zoom on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and on Wednesday evenings. New students are invited to participate and new volunteers are always welcome, no experience necessary.

Brendan’s Boots, the parish walking group, will take to the trail around the lake at North Park on Sept. 12 after meeting at the church at 9 a.m. Lunch will follow at the Over the Bar Bicycle Cafe.

Morning Prayer is offered at 8 a.m., Monday-Friday, via Zoom. Bible Study is held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays via Zoom. Please contact the office for links.

St. Luke the Evangelist

Saint Luke the Evangelist Parish will host its 20th annual golf outing Sept. 8 at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10 a.m. The Saint Luke Parish includes Saints John and Paul Church in Franklin Park and Good Samaritan Church in Ambridge. Proceeds from the outing benefit the Parish’s mission trips and the Neighborhood Non-Profit Fund. Registration is available online at Saintluke.net/golf-outing. St. Matthew’s AME Zion Church

Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m., and Sunday service is at 10:30, led by Pastor William B. Rankin.

St. Paul’s Lutheran Church

Worship is at 10 a.m. every Sunday, in person and online.

Bible Study is at 10 a.m. Tuesdays at the Edgeworth Eat’n Park.

St. Paul’s also hosts the Kids’ Community Closet. The free-cycle space serves children ages infant to youth by providing gently used clothing, coats/jackets, and shoes to the community for free. Summer hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturdays. There are no applications, income guidelines, or donations required to “shop” at the Kids’ Closet. Using the courtyard entrance to St. Paul’s, community members are welcome to stop by the second floor to donate, shop, or volunteer on Saturdays this summer. The Kids’ Community Closet is only able to accept children’s clothing and shoes. We are not able to accept toys, baby gear, bedding/blankets, athletic equipment, etc.

The fall rummage sale will be held from noon-7 p.m. Sept. 29 and 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Sept. 30.

St. Stephen’s Anglican Church

Fall 2023 programing kicks off Sept. 10 with new events and groups for all ages. Visit the website for all events.

The annual yard sale at the Christy House (corner of Frederick and Walnut) 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 9. All proceeds benefit women and children in need. The Christy House will reopen for lunch on Sept. 15. Please visit ststephenschurch.net/christyhouse for menu and reservations.
