Dot Day
Dot Day is an international celebration of art, creativity and courage. Inspired by author Peter H. Reynolds’ book “The Dot,” a teacher introduced “The Dot” to his classroom in 2009 and started the now international celebration of Dot Day. Children and adults alike are encouraged to “make their mark” and explore the power and potential of creativity. Sewickley is celebrating from 1-4 p.m. Sept. 16 at various locations, including Mark Rengers Gallery, Penguin Bookshop, Florabelle, Three Dog Bakery and more. Register online at markrengersgallery.com/dot-day.
Multi-family yard sale
A multi-family yard sale will take place in the 600-800 blocks of Maple Lane, near the Sewickley Bridge, from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. Sept. 16.
Colorized photos workshop
The Sewickley Public Library is partnering with the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust to offer a three-day workshop focused on digitally colorizing black and white photos. Teaching artist Randall Coleman will instruct participants on how to digitally add color to their old black and white photographs. Many find colorizing to be a meditative and calming practice. The historical context provided in class, along with learning a new art form, offers an engaging and rewarding experience. The three-day workshop runs Sept. 18-20 at the Sewickley Public Library. Sessions are held from 1-3 p.m. Participants are expected to attend all three sessions.
Register for the program on the library’s website at sewickleylibrary.org or by calling 412-741-6920.

Try samples of beer from participating brewers with a ticketed entry to the beer garden of $25 for attendees 21 years of age and up. Plus, live music can be heard from local artists NASH.V.ILL. and Icy Pisces.
New this year, the festival will feature special guests, The Manchester Craftsman Guild and its Guild on the Go Van and an appearance by the Pittsburgh Glass Center in its Hot Wheels mobile glass-blowing truck.
