Free parking

There will be free parking on Fridays after 1 p.m. and all day Saturday in December in Sewickley, including Dec. 31 and Jan. 1. Regular enforcement and pricing will resume on Jan. 3.

Food drive

Caliente Pizza & Draft House in Sewickley is conducting a food drive through Dec. 23. Customers can drop off canned goods at the Beaver Street rear location or give them to a delivery driver.

Cans will then be donated to Greater Pittsburgh Community Bank’s Network of Hope Food Bank, located in Hampton. For every three canned goods donated, customers will receive a Caliente’s coupon for free cheesy bread.

“This is a tough time for a lot of families, especially with all the challenges covid has caused. We look forward to the food drive every year, but we’re hoping this one will be extra special,” Caliente owner and founder Nick Bogacz said.

Old Economy Village

On Dec. 18 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Old Economy Village located in Ambridge, will allow children and adults to meet Belsnickel.

In the German culture, Belsnickel is the keeper of the Naughty and Nice Book for St. Nicholas (Santa Claus). Children will get a chance to make a craft, have a snack and meet with Belsnickel to find out if they are on the naughty or nice list. The program is $5 per child and $5 per adult. Report to the Visitor Center at 270 16th St. to pay for the program. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection

The Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet Dec. 22 at the Eat N’ Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.

Speakers will be Suzette McCarrell of McCarrell Landscape Construction Company and Stephanie Milazzo with Mary Kay Cosmetics.

Train Show

Ohio Valley Lines Model Railroad will hold a series of open house events: Dec. 18-28, Dec. 26, Jan. 1-2 and Jan. 8-9.

The requested donation is $6 for adults and $2 for children aged 3-12.

HO and N scale layouts, a flea market and more will be available.
