Goatoberfest
Kindred Spirits Rescue Ranch third annual GOATOBERFEST cash bash and fundraiser is set for 4 to 8 p.m. Oct. 14. All of the proceeds will benefit the animal sanctuary, which rescues, shelters, and cares for abused and abandoned farm animals, including cows, sheep, goats, chickens, donkeys, horses, pigs, and more. Activities will Include visits with goats and other rescue animals; Oktoberfest-themed food (all plant-based); fire pits and s’mores (plant-based); cash bar with mulled wine, beer, and cider; live acoustic music by Lori and Jeff; silent auction; raffles and 50-50s throughout the day.
The event will be held at Zassick Park, 50 Zassick Road, Sewickley. Standard tickets will cost $50, and premium tickets will cost $100. Premium tickets include early entry for extra time with the animals, food, cash bar with two complimentary drinks and a keepsake.

Ole 5K
TASH’s 15th Annual Ole 5K will take place Oct. 7 at the Harmar Grove Pavilion in North Park.
TASH is a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit that has worked in Oaxaca, Mexico, since 1998. It aims to bridge the community of Pittsburgh with the people in Mexico. Pete Noll, a 1992 graduate of Quaker Valley High School, has lived in Oaxaca for the past 20 years, but comes back several times a year. Together with his team, they are organizing the 15th annual Olé 5k Benefit race to support la Clinica del Pueblo, a nonprofit hospital, and other charities. At the conclusion of the Olé 5K Benefit race, there will be a Mexican buffet and 50/50 raffle.

Light Up Night
Sewickley’s Light Up Night is scheduled for 5-9 p.m. Dec.1. More details about the holiday festival will be released closer to the event.
Library events
Sewickley Public Library will host a family block party for children ages birth to 6 with their parent/caregiver from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 7 at 500 Thorn St. The event is free. No registration is required. Play, build, read and learn together with blocks. The party is also scheduled for Oct. 14 and 21 at the same times.
The library will host a Booktacular Pumpkin Patch Oct. 20-31 at the library. Families are invited to decorate pumpkins and put them on display at the library. They can be dropped off at the library Oct. 20 and be displayed through Oct. 31. Registration is required and it is limited to one pumpkin per family.

Halloween parade
Leetsdale’s Halloween parade is planned for 5:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Participants will meet at the borough building at 373 Beaver St. and walk to Henle Park for candy and fun. Go to leetsdaleboro.net for more information.
Christmas party planned
A Senior Christmas Party is scheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 1 at the Leetsdale Manor Highrise Community Room. Singer Kate Boyko will provide some holiday jazz. All borough seniors are invited. Call 724-266-4820 or email mayorford@gmail.com for more information.
Business Connection
Greater Pittsburgh Business Connection, a referral group of business professionals, will meet at the Eat N’ Park on Route 60 in Robinson Township for breakfast from 7:15 to 8:30 a.m. Oct. 11. Sewickley Academy Alumni Weekend
Sewickley Academy welcomes alumni and their families and friends for Alumni and Reunion Weekend Oct. 6-7.
On Oct. 7, from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Sewickley Academy Tailgate will take place at Nichols Field. The day is packed with activities suitable for all ages — from face painting and balloon artistry to yard games. As a highlight, attendees can rally behind the SA Panther’s soccer team as they compete against Avonworth at noon. Children up to grade 5 are invited to participate in a halftime scrimmage. Players are asked to meet at the concession stand no later than 12:40 p.m.
The weekend is not just limited to the tailgate and soccer match — alumni can embark on tours of the campus and annual class parties offer the opportunity for old classmates to catch up.

Fire safety fair
The Quaker Valley Fire Safety Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 14 on Broad St in Sewickley (between Beaver and Thorn). There will be fire trucks, emergency vehicles, kids activities, food trucks and more. The free community event is hosted by the Quaker Valley Fire Safety Committee, which is made up of the Aleppo Township Volunteer Fire Company, Big Sewickley Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Cochran Hose Company, Emsworth Volunteer Fire Company, Fair Oaks Volunteer Fire Department and Leetsdale Fire Department.
Karts in the Dark

Sewickley walking tour
History, notoriety, and happenstance merge to form a quilt pattern as American as apple pie with DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh’s Sewickley Secrets walking tour. Join former librarian and amateur historian Meghan Snatchko as we unravel some secret history on a one-mile loop. Tickets are priced at $20. Beginning at 2 p.m. Oct. 21, the tour duration is 90 minutes and begins at 200 Broad Street. All DOORS OPEN Pittsburgh tours require tickets to be bought online prior to a tour.
