Camp Meeting Road will close between Charleston Square and North Avenue in Bell Acres Borough starting at 9 a.m. Jan. 30, according to the Allegheny County Department of Public Works. The closure, which is expected to end in April, is required for slope stabilization work, installation of guide rail and paving.

Traffic will be detoured using Beaver Street, Little Sewickley Creek Road and Fern Hollow Road.

Residents living within the closure area will have access to their homes at all times.

Call for donated pianos

Free the Music PGH is an initiative founded by Hudson Colletti. It envisions public pianos throughout Pittsburgh to foster human connection through music, which has the potential to break down the barriers between us. In 2019, they placed three artist-designed pianos free to the public. The organization has reached terms with the Pittsburgh International Airport to place multiple pianos within their facilities and is looking for upright pianos in good condition. Upon inspection, Free the Music PGH will pick up and transport the pianos. For more information, email hcolletti@sewickley.org or call 412-773-0055.

CPR and emergency response awareness

Responding to a medical emergency took center stage earlier this month when an NFL player collapsed on the field and needed CPR and an AED to save his life. You don’t have to be a medical professional to help, and the Sewickley YMCA is offering a free session so community members can begin to learn the necessary skills to respond appropriately to a medical crisis. An instructor will guide you through the steps you can take to help during an emergency, such as how and when to get help, what you can do to while waiting for EMS to arrive, and the basics of CPR and AED use. The free session from 6:30-7:15 p.m. Jan. 30 is an intro to CPR and emergency response and will not provide certification. YMCA’s goal is to provide assurance that there are many ways to help and that anyone can make a difference. It’s appropriate for anyone 13 and older.

Winter Adventures

Looking for a fun (and free) Saturday morning activity with your little ones? Sewickley Academy is offering Winter Adventures in the on-campus Early Childhood Building. Open to all children ages 3 to 5 and their parents, each session is 90 minutes and led by SA’s early childhood educators, providing an exploratory play experience with the right balance of guidance and encouragement in a safe and nurturing environment. Sign up to participate at bit.ly/WinterFun23 or email jscott@sewickley.org for more information. Sessions are 9-10:30 a.m. on Jan. 28, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 with different topics of exploration and experience each day.
