Letter to the editor: Neighbors deserve support, not ridicule
We moved to Sewickley nearly eight years ago now. My wife is from the region, but not the community. When friends and family at my forever home of the Jersey Shore ask how I like living in Pittsburgh, I always answer, “I like living in Sewickley,” and proceed to let them know all the great things that come with our great community.
Nothing is greater than the neighbors we have. Bringing our daughter into this world six years ago made perfect sense when we looked around at the neighborhood. And it’s been the highlight of our lives in no small part thanks to you.
Recently, the rhetoric being pushed in our community gives us cause for concern. Very soon (maybe even before you read this) we’ll complete an election and welcome in school board members and council members. These will be neighbors to celebrate as they’re willing to volunteer so much effort and time to benefit our community and its greatest resource – our children.
These neighbors deserve support, not ridicule. In supporting one candidate over another, we as a community should never stoop so low as to defame a neighbor.
