The Rotary Club of Quaker Valley celebrated its recent efforts and announced its next lineup of officers at a picnic in Plum Street Park in Leet.
Members gathered at the pavilion for their annual picnic on June 30.
They shared stories and enjoyed food and drink while hearing from re-elected president Scott Zahner.
As Zahner begins his fourth year as president, he reflected on the work the club has done over the past few years.
The club has done food drives for the Sewickley Food Bank, donated money to the Leetsdale Food Bank, paid off outstanding lunch balances for Quaker Valley School District students who could not afford a meal and strengthened relationships with council members across the region.
Zahner said the club also improved the Sewickley Harvest Festival in conjunction with the Sewickley Kiwanis Club, improved the area’s Halloween and Santa parades, donated to fire victims, planted trees, made improvements to the Plum Street Park, dedicated a bench in Sewickley to a late club member and organized a sock/clothing drive for veterans and their families among many more community-based activities.
“I’m excited again for the upcoming year and looking forward (to working) with these men that I’ve come to love as family,” Zahner said of the club. “I wish everyone could come and see first hand what this small but strong group does for this great community on a regular basis.”
Officers are elected every year and serve the start of July through the end of June.
Those elected for 2024-25 are Zahner; Charles Ogle, secretary; Sidney Lauther, treasurer; and Graeme Purcell, sargent at arms.

The club meets meets each Wednesday at 6 p.m. in Plum Street Park May through September and at the Sewickley Eat’n Park Wednesdays at 6 p.m. October through April.
