An apparel-themed fundraiser on campus celebrated its 70th anniversary at Sewickley Academy.
The Annual Clothesline Sale is a week-long event held on campus that sells clothing and accessories to the public.
It’s organized and sponsored by The Home and School Association of Sewickley Academy to support the education of the students there.
“It’s their largest fundraiser and brings in grant money for our teachers —any type of grant to help them with something for their classroom,” said Heather Hoffman, director of enrollment management and strategic communications.
Last year’s event raised more than $120,000 and this year’s total was a record breaker, raising more than $150,000.
The sale is run by parent volunteers who log more than 2,500 hours in August and September to outfit the Snyder Gym into a mega-used clothing, shoes, books and sporting goods sale.
Monies raised in 2023 enabled the school to fund Grants for Innovative Frameworks in Teaching (G.I.F.T.) for teachers, staff and faculty appreciation and items such as a telescope, visiting artist Jo Wos, speaker Marke Freeman, renovations to the campus greenhouse, a 3D clay printer and S.T.E.A.M. manipulatives.
