Beth Samuel Jewish Center

Beth Samuel Jewish Center offers weekly Shabbat services, family services once a month, and Kabbalat Shabbat services online once per month. There is also Religious School every Sunday.

First Friday: Family Service at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary, followed by an Oneg in the social hall.

Shabbat Morning Services: Saturday mornings at 10 a.m. in the sanctuary, followed by a Kiddush in the social hall.

Kabbalat Shabbat Services: Usually on the third Friday of the month, at 7 p.m. on Zoom. Contact the office for the link. This get-together frequently includes a visiting musician, cantor, rabbi or other noteworthy guest.

Christ Church at Grove Farm

Sunday Services are 9 a.m. (traditional) and 11:15 a.m. (modern).

Community 619 is held Mondays at 6:30 p.m. in the John Guest Ministry Center. It is a safe place to share the ups and downs of life alongside those who can understand the challenges, the struggles and the difficulties. For more information, visit ccgf.org/community619.

Divine Redeemer Parish

The Plastic Bags into Sleeping Mat Society will hold its monthly workshop on Nov. 30 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. It is held in the Gathering Space at St. James Church, which faces the parking lot. Volunteers are needed to cut, attach and roll loops of plastic. Others crochet the plastic yarn into sleeping mats. No technology needed, only a pair of scissors (and an ‘N’ crochet hook if you crochet). Attendees can bring plastic grocery bags, but we also have some to cut.

The organization has sent 856 sleeping mats to countries in Africa, Caribbean Islands, Central and South America, Europe and the United States, including Pittsburgh. The project has recycled more than 1.2 million plastic bags with the help of many hands. Call Joanne with questions at 412-741-2368.

Little Hill United Methodist Church

The church will hold its annual Soup ‘n Salad dinner on Election Day, Nov. 7, from 4 to 7 p.m. Dessert and beverage included. Cost is $12, children 6-12 are $6 and children under 6 eat free.

North Way Sewickley Valley

North Way Sewickley Valley is a family-friendly Christian community offering services at 9:15 and 11 a.m. each Sunday. Kids Church is available at both services for children from birth to fifth grade. Autism Ministry support is also available for children from preschool to eighth grade with pre-­registration.

Sewickley Presbyterian Church

Worship Services are held at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. each Sunday.

Education hour for all ages is at 10 a.m. on Sundays

The yearly Christmas Food Basket project will go from Nov. 12 to Dec. 10. Food item donations will be accepted during those dates. Baskets are given to those in need around the community in time for Christmas. Visit the website for a complete list of items that are needed.

Sewickley United Methodist Church

The Sewickley United Methodist Church has two services each Sunday: 9 a.m. contemporary, featuring our praise band Leap of Faith; and 11 a.m. traditional, with nursery care and children’s ministries during both services. The church is a reconciling congregation and openly welcomes all people.

The United Women in Faith of the Sewickley United Methodist church will host a Sale for Missions from 1 to 7 p.m. Nov. 3 and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 4 at the church. Previously owned treasures, including household items, seasonal clothing, shoes, Christmas items, books, puzzles, and much more, will be available. Please enter through Door 10 from the Thorn Street driveway. All proceeds from the sale are used to fund local, national and international United Women in Faith mission projects.

St. Brendan’s Episcopal Church

St. Brendan’s is an open, welcoming and active church that holds in-person worship with Eucharist at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sundays, and 6 p.m. Wednesdays. The Sunday 10 o’clock service is also livestreamed on YouTube. Sunday School and nursery coverage are available for children at the 10 a.m. service. A Children’s Service is held on the fourth Sunday of every month at 10 a.m. in which young members actively participate in various aspects of the liturgy.

The church’s annual Holiday Happenings Craft Show and Cookie Walk will be held Nov. 18, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dozens of vendors will have homemade crafts and food items for sale. Visitors will also be able to hand-select from dozens of home-baked cookies to fill a box (or more) during the cookie walk. The church will also sell quarts of homemade soups and raffle three baskets of assorted gift cards.

Parishioners will be making and packing 120 lunches on Nov. 11 at 8:30 a.m. for people served by the Neighborhood Resilience Project in the Hill District. Gently used sweaters, sweatshirts, sweatpants and other warm clothing, plus new socks, are also being collected through Nov. 5. for distribution by the project.

Rev. Robin Jarrell is teaching a series of classes on the Hebrew Bible. The classes are held at 6 p.m. on Tuesdays via Zoom. Please contact the church for a link.

The Book Club will meet in the church library at 1 p.m. Nov. 6 to discuss “Endurance: My Year in Space” by Scott Kelly.

The Modern Episcopalians group, which explores the history, faith and worship of the church, meets Thursdays at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The group is reading and discussing the book “Welcome to the Episcopal Church” by Christopher L. Webber.

Conversation classes for English as a Second Language adults are underway. Two levels are being offered via Zoom on Tuesday and Thursday mornings and on Wednesday evenings. New students are invited to participate and new volunteers are always welcome, no experience necessary.

Morning Prayer is offered at 8 a.m., Monday through Friday, via Zoom. Bible Study is held at 11 a.m. Tuesdays via Zoom. Please contact the office for links.
