Shaler police Chief Sean Frank recently was named president of the Western Pennsylvania Chiefs of Police Association.
The organization, which spans 21 counties, seeks to “secure personal and professional relationships” between local chiefs and advance law enforcement standards and goals, according to its website.
Frank said he has been involved with the organization since 2019 and had served on its executive board. But on Jan. 21, Judge Daniel Konieczka swore in Frank to a one-year term as its president.
An officer with Shaler since 1992, Frank also is a trained paramedic and a graduate of the FBI National Academy. He has been Shaler’s chief since 2020.
“It’s very honorable to stand among your peers and lead this organization,” he said.
Ken Truver, Castle Shannon’s chief of police, served as president of the Western Pennsylvania Chiefs in 2015. He said he expects Frank to do a “terrific job” in the position.
Also an FBI graduate, Truver said he has known Frank for years. He described him as “very professional and even-keeled.”
During his tenure, Frank said he hopes to focus on recruitment retention, a recent issue in the area, and mental and physical wellness programs for officers.
