With summer quickly becoming a memory, the final weekend of August arrives with a forecast that looks promising for outdoor activities. And good thing, because there are a bunch of ’em. Here are a few fun ways to spend your weekend.

Go for a ride

The 30th annual UPMC Health Plan PedalPGH is from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday beginning at Allegheny Commons Park on the North Side.

This is the largest single-day charity bicycle ride in Pennsylvania. Cyclists of all ages can explore the city on two wheels while raising awareness and funds to improve city streets for biking and walking. Nearly 3,000 participants are expected. Streets will remain open to car traffic. Participants embark on their chosen route length.

There will be a finish line festival in Allegheny Commons Park with lunch and refreshments. There will also be entertainment from Shorty’s Pins x Pints and tunes from DJ Willionaire. The event has raised more than $1.5 million for bicycle and pedestrian advocacy.

There are distances of 7, 25, 40 and 62 miles.

The parking pad

OrangeG is a multi-instrumentalist based in Pittsburgh. His music blurs the lines between indie rock, folk, blues and Americana. Bring your own chair or blanket, a shareable side dish and your own beverages.

The Parking Pad, at 1516 Hillsdale Ave., is a music presenter born out of two years of house concerts.

Tickets are $10.
