Bingo benefit
West Jefferson Hills School District Foundation for Education will hold a bingo event on May 4. There will be 15 games of bingo and other games of chance and activities at the Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish — St. Elizabeth Gym (1 Grove Place; off Route 51).
Doors will open at noon and bingo begins at 1 p.m. There will also be basket raffles, 50/50, additional games of chance, a bake sale and more. Tickets are $40 and include 15 games of bingo ($500 jackpot), food and refreshments. The WJH Foundation for Education provides supplemental funding to further enhance and enrich student educational opportunities within the district.
Comprehensive plan
Pleasant Hills will hold an open house from 6-8 p.m. April 30 at Pleasant Hills Middle School to give residents an update on how the borough’s comprehensive plan is progressing. For more information, call 412-655-3300.
Triumph of the Holy Cross Spring Fest
Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish kicks off Spring Fest 6-10 p.m. May 15, running each night through May 18. The festival is located at St. Elizabeth Church Grounds, 1 Grove Place in Baldwin Borough. Spring Fest is a fun-filled event for the whole family featuring rides by Reinhart Amusements, live music and entertainment, games, prizes, nightly basket raffles, Big Money raffle, New-2-U Rummage Sale, delicious food and treats, and our famous, homemade Spring-a-Rama Donuts.
Each evening of Spring Fest will feature dinner specials in addition to the regular nightly menu:
May 15, 6-10 p.m.: Dinner special is pulled pork sandwich with chips and choice of potato salad or coleslaw.
May 16, 6-10 p.m.: Dinner special is stuffed cabbage with mashed potatoes.
May 17, 6-10 p.m.: Dinner special is hot sausage sSandwich with chips and choice of potato salad or coleslaw.
May 18, 6-10 p.m.: Dinner special is “Choose your Spring Fest Favorite.”
Additional food items available every evening include: Hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, chicken tenders, pizza, soft pretzels, fresh cut fries, fresh squeezed lemonade, Spring-A-Rama donuts, funnel cakes, ice cream, baked goods, candy and beverages. Craft and vendor show
Prince of Peace Lutheran Church will hold its second annual Craft and Vendor Show on May 18 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the South Park Economics Building, 2050 Buffalo Drive in South Park.
There will be approximately 40 vendors, raffles, a DJ and food trucks. Proceeds benefit Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. For more information, or to become a vendor, contact Jen Puskar at 412-758-8853.
South Hills Women’s Club
The South Hills Women’s Club will celebrate its 80th birthday with a buffet dinner on May 15 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, 164 Fort Couch Road, Bethel Park. Social time begins at 6 p.m. and dinner at 6:30 p.m.
Cost of the dinner is $45. If you plan to attend, please call Joyce at 412-221-2713 for details and instructions. A check made out to the South Hills Women’s Club for $45 must be received by May 8.
The organization will celebrate its 80th year, present a donation for the 2024 charity to the Bridgeville Chief of Police for the Baumgarten Child Safety Fund and install incoming officers and new club members. After the installation, there will be entertainment. Past members are encouraged to join us for this celebration. New members and guests are welcome to attend.
Soliciting in Pleasant Hills
Solicitors for Lil D-Tailz will be in Pleasant Hills soliciting mobile detailing and pressure washing options through May 10. The solicitors have registered with the borough, have soliciting permits and also have the borough’s no solicitation list and should not knock at your door if you have registered to be on the borough’s list. Whitehall Borough Historical Society
The Whitehall Borough Historical Society will present “World War II Espionage,” German plans for espionage and sabotage in the United States. The principle speaker will be Todd DiPastino, PhD., Yale University, executive director of the Veterans Breakfast Club, and author of seven books including the award winning “Bill Maudin: A Life Up Front.” This presentation will take place on April 28 at 7 p.m. at the Whitehall Community Room.
South Arts Pittsburgh
South Arts Pittsburgh is hosting a two-day Art Show May 4-5 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Schoolhouse Arts & History Center, 2600 South Park Road, Bethel Park. The Schoolhouse Art Show will include an artists’ market with local vendors displaying/selling their artworks throughout the first floor, and South Arts members’ artwork for sale in one of the classrooms of the historic schoolhouse.
Flea market
A flea market will be held 9 a.m.-2 p.m. April 27 at Jefferson United Presbyterian Church, 716 Gill Hall Road, Jefferson hills.
