Lions to hold drive-through barbeque dinner

Bethel Park Lions Club is replacing its fall fish fry with a drive-through barbecue dinner from 4-7 p.m. Sept. 18. Meals include chicken, ribs, baked beans, coleslaw, cornbread and a drink for $14. Children’s meals are $5 and include a hotdog, coleslaw, chips and a drink. No advance tickets will be sold, and dinners are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Craft Show canceled

Due to the coronavirus, South Park Women’s Club will not be able to hold its October craft show. It would have been its 27th year of having this special event, which funds many of the club’s charities and three scholarships. The craft show has been rescheduled for April 17, 2021, at the Broughton Fire Hall.

Book sale canceled

The Friends of South Park Township Library’s Fall 2020 Book Sale, which is held at the township Community Center building, has been canceled because of the coronavirus. The Friends organization, which will begin its 47th year, will not be collecting any sale items until March 2021 . The organization hopes to hold its annual April sale. More info will be forthcoming regarding when to donate sale items in the library lobby.

Thomas Jefferson High School Homecoming Parade slated

Thomas Jefferson High School will hold a Homecoming Parade 5 p.m. Sept. 20 at the high school, 830 Old Clairton Road, Jefferson Hills. The parade will showcase the 2020 TJ Homecoming Court, TJ Jaguar Marching Band, cheerleaders and senior fall athletes as they parade along Old Clairton Road from the high school through Jefferson Hills and into Pleasant Hills. The TJHS Homecoming Committee is working with local police departments to coordinate the event and parade route. Because of the ongoing pandemic and gathering restrictions, the annual TJ Homecoming Carnival cannot take place.
