Chamber holiday events

The Brentwood Baldwin Whitehall Chamber of Commerce invites all community members to share in the spirit of the season by donating a gift card benefitting local families in need.

Christmas in the Park(ing) lot will be held 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Dec. 5 in the Baldwin Library Parking Lot. Everyone is welcome to stop by and drop off gift cards; suggested cards may include Giant Eagle, Walmart and Aldi. While there, participants are encouraged to stay for an outdoor visit and enjoy complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and donuts. In addition, all donors will receive a free raffle ticket for a chance to win a beautiful gift basket.

“By hosting this giving event in the library’s parking lot, we can safely celebrate the season and help others in our community,” said Jenny Worley, Baldwin Library director and chamber board member. “I’m glad the library is able to provide space, it’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Although the chamber is currently unable to host indoor events, it hasn’t stopped them from finding ways to show support for those in need. Gift cards will be collected for South Hills Interfaith Movement and school district social workers to distribute to local families.

Baldwin Holiday Festival

The Kiwanis Club of Baldwin is sponsoring a Holiday Festival at the Baldwin Borough Building 5:30-8 p.m. Dec. 12. All activities will be outside and socially distanced. Masks are required. Attendees will enjoy live music, pictures with Santa, kids games and crafts, food trucks, lighting of the tree, basket raffle and more. Please bring a non-perishable food item or a monetary donation for the local food pantry. For more information, visit baldwinpakiwanis.org.

National Society for Leadership and Success

John Stover, a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School majoring in petroleum engineering at Marietta College and scheduled to graduate in May 2021, is part of the inaugural class inducted into the National Society for Leadership and Success on Nov. 15.

The National Society for Leadership and Success is the nation’s largest leadership honor society. This year’s inductees were nominated during the 2020 summer (based on grade point average and identified leadership potential), and over the course of the semester have completed the “Foundations of Leadership” program — approximately 10 hours of leadership training, including an orientation, Leadership Training day program, attendance at three speakers, and participation in three small group meetings focused on goal setting and supporting their peers.
