Aidan Greenaway, a senior at Baldwin High School, was named a National Merit Scholar program finalist.

National Merit Scholar finalist

Each year, 1.5 million high school students enter the National Merit Scholar program. Of those, 50,000 are chosen as semi-finalists and 15,000 are selected as finalists. One of this year’s finalists is Baldwin High School senior Aidan Greenaway.

“Aidan is the type of student who is able to do whatever it takes to succeed academically, and that is a characteristic that oftentimes does not appear in students until they reach graduate school,” Baldwin High School Principal Shaun Tomaszewski said.

Greenaway credits his time in the Baldwin-Whitehall School District for giving him a strong foundation for success. “I have been a Baldwin kid since kindergarten, and it has such a welcoming place for me to explore and grow my interests. In second grade, I was placed in the gifted program at Paynter,” he said. “From then on, I have always found inspiration and ambition through extracurriculars. I will always be grateful to the Baldwin-Whitehall School District for providing me the opportunities to develop my academics and interests.”

Greenaway plans to study biophysics with a focus on molecular research in college.

He hopes to hear his acceptance decision from his dream school, John Hopkins University, soon.
