Thomas Jefferson High School has postponed its graduation ceremony again due to the ever-changing numbers and restrictions of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to West Jefferson Hills School District director of public relations Carrie Lekse, the district had to move the graduation from July 18 to Aug. 8. Senior Sendoff Prom has also been bumped to Aug. 6.

The changes, Lekse said, were due to the Allegheny Health Department order that was issued on Wednesday, limiting indoor gatherings to 25 people and outdoor gatherings to 50.

Leske said that about 170 students had signed up for the July 18 event.

“Hopefully, these last two events will go on as scheduled,” Lekse said.

Thomas Jefferson High School Principal Pete Murphy concurred.

“The administration, faculty and staff of Thomas Jefferson High School will do everything possible to honor the wishes of the class of 2020.”
