Student news: A roundup of accolades from the North Allegheny communities

• The 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program has unveiled its finalists for the National Merit Scholarship Awards. All 17 students from North Allegheny who were named semifinalists in September qualified as finalists: Maxwell Fancher, Ashnavi Ghosh, Megumi Kawabe, Linda Kong, Haresh Muralidharan, Anwita Narra, Praneeth Otthi, Charles Palmer, Anushka Prabhu (not pictured), Lucas Pu, Yuki Qian, Pavit Saini, Kelly Tai, Joseph Widjaja, Yu Xiao, Arshia Zaidi and Ada Zhang.
• North Allegheny juniors Summer Ji and Saniya Divekar received Honorable Mention accolades for their entries in the Society for Analytical Chemists of Pittsburgh High School Essay Contest. The regional contest is open to students in grades 10 through 12 from eight states. In acknowledgment of their accomplishments, each student was awarded a $100 prize.
• Kush Bandi earned the distinction of faculty honors at the Georgia Institute of Technology for achieving a 4.0 during the fall 2024 semester.
• Shae DeRose, Ava Heinricher, Lauren Hoffman, Brady Leczo, Evan O’Keefe, Tye Ross, Kendall Trunzo and Joseph Wiethorn were named to the dean’s list at John Carroll University for the fall 2024 semester.
• Evelyn Faber was named to the dean’s list at Fairfield University for the fall 2024 semester.
• Martin Gray was named to the president’s list at James Madison University for the fall 2024 semester.
• Aaron Posey was named to the dean’s list at Kennesaw State University for the fall 2024 semester.
