For those who picture October weather in Western Pennsylvania as generally cloudy and cold, Mother Nature had other ideas this year.
Hampton’s Halloween parade benefited with an ideal day for costumed folks to take a leisurely stroll. The mercury in the thermometer — at least, that’s the way they used to work — rose considerably from sunup through the event’s late-morning start time.
Couple that with full sunshine, and those in attendance easily could have mistaken fall for summer.
Everything added up to a memorable Oct. 19 at Hampton Community Park, including assistant township manager Susan Bernet’s annual baking of hundreds of cookies for guests to enjoy.
Youngsters can wear their costumes again during the Hampton’s official trick-or-treat, scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31. The township requests residents turn on their porch light if they plan to hand out goodies.
