Traffic on Pittsburgh’s South Side is being detoured away from a section of East Carson Street while crews begin clearing a building that partially collapsed last week.
The road is closed between 16th and 17th streets, the site where the upper floor of a two-story building collapsed on Aug. 12. No injuries were reported.
In particular, tractor trailer drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
Pittsburgh Public Safety and PennDOT have posted signs at 10th and Carson streets to divert large trucks across the 10th Street Bridge, rather than have them maneuvering through the work zone, according to Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.
Traffic can also use the Birmingham Bridge to connect to Fifth Avenue in Oakland.

Pittsburgh police will have extra patrols in the area to help direct traffic away from the area.
It is not clear how long construction will last.
Yellow police tape is keeping pedestrians off the sidewalk near the building, which housed an ice cream shop on the lower floor.
