The fourth annual Officer Brian Shaw Foundation Concert Series will feature six live bands and more than 140 auction baskets Saturday at Mogie’s Irish Pub in Lower Burrell.
Admission is $10 for the event, which runs from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Shaw, of Lower Burrell, was a New Kensington police officer who was shot and killed after a traffic stop and foot chase in 2017. He was 25.
Since his death, the Shaw family and friends have mounted numerous fundraisers in his honor to pay for scholarships, police dogs and other help to law enforcement and local communities.
“The concert has a community (activism) and family atmosphere,” said Dave “Mogie” Magill, owner of the pub who is active with the Shaw foundation. “There’s dining, entertainment, a 50/50 raffle, T-shirts and hats and more.”
A new T-shirt design by sports artist Larry “Klu” Klukaszewski and hat will be available.
Magill expects up to 200 people inside the pub as well as its parking lot and patio.
Live rock ’n’ roll starts at 2 p.m. with a lineup of TKO, Up the River Unplugged, Curtis Acoustics, John Barnes, Dos Acoustics and Big House Pete, said Amber Adda, a committee member with the Shaw foundation.
An open mic session from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. could provide some fun and surprises.
Auction highlights include a basket from Myrna’s Brew’ry Outlet with a Z Grill valued at almost $470, a JBL sound bar from Aaron’s rental center, bowling parties for 50 people from Wildlife Lanes and a party for 50 at AK Valley Park with some sparkle from Tanks fireworks, Adda said.
Patrons also can buy tickets for a 50-50 raffle.
Lower Burrell-based businesses Monarch Hospice and Salem’s Auto Body helped to sponsor the event.
Last year, the concert raised $12,080 for the Shaw Foundation, Adda said.
Mogie’s Irish Pub is at 3210 Leechburg Road, Lower Burrell.
